Housing, Homelessness, and Violence Against Women (2017)

This discussion paper is the result of the June 2017 cross-sectoral roundtable on housing, homelessness, and VAW organized by Women’s Shelters Canada (WSC). It outlines and reviews the social and affordable housing options and supports available to domestic violence (DV) survivors and illuminates the complex and sometimes contradictory systems that survivors must navigate to avoid homelessness and gain access safe and affordable housing. It concludes with intersectional gender-based recommendations on the National Housing Strategy.
